Who I am In you

I have recently poured into music during my worship time.  Just listened to how my new favorite band is singing about what God is doing in their life.  And consequently God is doing similar things in my life.  So let me encourage you and tell you about how Great our God truly is.

My Story:

If this is my story, If this is my song

I wanna be a part of something beautiful

If this is my journey, Show me your road

Where ever you lead me in this world I wanna go

There's just too many times I only think of me

'Cause I get so consumed with my opportunities

But when my life's work brings me to the feet of god

I wanna hear him say I lived for his glory

So many times I have been downtrodened and discouraged in Waco
Too many times I have overlooked the people around me
only to focus on myself.
to focus on how bad my life is
to worry about why i am here, the lack of a social life I have
and most imporantly.. I forget.
I forget to worship the one who makes it all possible
The ONE.
the I AM.
GOD

Most recently I have been very discouraged.  I still am struggling in the whole friend department.  But God has blessed me with the most hectic schedule EVER.  And when I mean ever... Just wait - tomorrow I am blogging a day in the life!  It's going to be great!

I can remember back before school started I was telling my coworkers.. I love my job.  I love my job.  I love my job.  And so what happened because of that - I have 4 new athletes to work with and I am booked straight through from 9 am to 9 pm when I go home at night!  I LOVE IT!!!  Here are some pictures of my kids recently...

This is Anthony.  I can always count on Anthony to make me laugh and brighten my day.  He always brings me a Diet Dr. Pepper and I never have to worry about whether or not he will do his work... usually with a little bit of grumbling - but he stands up for me and always makes me smile!  I love this kid.

This is kj.  KJ is one of my new kids, but he wants a 4.0 and so we work hard together.  He is so sweet and love shis family.  He also has soo many tattoos.  Kind of scary :)  But out of all my kids - he is becoming my favorite very quickly.  This morning he sent me a text saying he made a 92/100 on his MIS test!  I am so proud of him.  He is very determined and I am so excited about watching him grow this semester.

These are the people I work with.  They make my job sooo much fun! Starting from the back left Jill and Tracy (The Learning Specialist) They are so amazing!  Then there is Bart - my boss!  He is a Ouachita grad and the uncle of Daniel Byrd (For those of you who know who I am talking about... they could be twins - they act like each other or what I remember.. very fun!)  Then Back right - that's me!  and then the other GA Lauren, she is from Russelville and is all of my classes with me.  Next you have Tebo and Dee Dee!  They are the football athletic advisors!  We have a lot of fun together.. and then cut off in the corner is Tierra!  Tierra just got promoted to Assitant Athletic Director!  YAY!!!  She is a lot of fun too in the office.

This is Tyler and C LEE...  Me and C LEE have a basketball match this week - I am soo taking him down with my mad EEE Fun Team basketball skills :)  He is soo sweet!  Love him to death!

This is Donald.  Donald rooms with my friend Jordan's boyfriend.  Donald is a hard worker but often gets distracted.  if i haven't said it before - i love my kids.  Donald is known for saying some funny things!  Last week he told me he was blessed to have me because I helped him stay at Baylor.  These kids are so cute! Seriously they make my day so fun and I love being at work!

Here is C LEE again!  haha - trying to act all hard.  That is not at all how he is!  I just wish that you could all meet these guys and know them like I do.  The girl int he picture is Tifany - she is another tutor and she is really good with the guys.

Again.

I
LOVE
MY
JOB!!!

So needless to say, when I am kind of lonely or I get sad - I always think back to my kids.  Or better God usually provides a sweet text or a funny video that my kids will send me.  It never fails.  God always provides!

Won't Let Me Go:

Welcome to my latest disaster

Same book just another chapter

I never thought it could be worse than last year

But here I am again today

I laugh 'cause it hurts when I scream

But I'll make it through 'cause I believe

That even when my heart breaks

And everything's shaken

I'm left alone in the rain

You won't, you won't, won't

You won't let me go

When life's insane

And everything's crazy

You carry me through the pain

And you won't, you won't, won't

You won't let me go

This is my go to song when I feel like I am overwhelmed
Upset and frustrated.
I always listen to this song - becuase
GOD IS ALWAYS THERE
Even when things aren't going as well as they should!
God is amazing like that.
and is word is full of blessings.
I love it

I know i seem perfect (haha - not that statement was filled with sarcasm)
but life is hard - especially when you are trying to make
friends that might not believe, act, feel, think
the same way as you.

It's hard.
And sometimes we don't make the best decisions -
but God is always there
and he can pick you up when those things happen
when you are on your face
when you are humiliated and embarassed
God forgives.
And he wipes the slate clean!

amen!

Have a blessed and charmed day... full of bliss
abby.

Day 1: charmed.

turning bitterness to bliss.

Has there ever been on person that you can't stand?  You would rather not talk to them and if you saw them in person, in a room at a party or at the mall shopping - you would not speak to them or it would just be awkward?  There was a person in my life like that.  I am not going to say names because this isn't a gossip column - but I do want to share and encourage you with the journey and the experiences that are occurring in my life right now.

A couple of week ago my Bible study was over bitterness.  Have you ever stopped to think about bitterness?  Let's start with the definition...

Definition: Holding on to or showing feelings of intense [strong] animosity [hatred, anger], resentment or vindictiveness [wanting to get back at someone]. -- Other words that describe bitterness are: merciless, unforgiving, holding a grudge. Bitterness is also described as feelings resulting from something that is difficult
to accept.

How about what the Bible says about Bitterness:

Hebrews 12:14-15
14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

For a lot of us, we would rather withdraw than to seek to find greater purpose in our situations.  We victimize ourselves and consider ourselves deserving of the bitterness that we have and we ignore how the bitterness is only hurting us and making matters worse.

Now I am a testament to this!  I have turned my entire situation inward and have grown more angry and more bitter with every day thinking about it.  I ponder it and instead of hiding God's word deep in my heart - I have consumed my thoughts and my heart with this situation surrounding my bitterness.  When we do this - we convince ourselves that nobody understands and nobody can even identify with the pain we have felt and continue to feel.  I am sure your situation hurt and your feelings were deep and still cause some pain, however, the bottom line is we have to choose to overcome the bitterness and have a heart restored and renewed by God, or we can remain soaked in the evil that is bitterness.

Turning from bitterness can be good.  We don't have to allow it to continue to steal our joy!  We don't have to allow the evil to imprison us but instead allow ourselves to reap the benefits of having a blissful heart for the Lord.  There is a true victory that comes from God and that can come out of the worse circumstances.

After I read my study and really sat and thought about the bitterness that encircles my life I began to think - how Can I overcome this.  Where is bitterness in my life?  Am I bitter at my ex-boyfriends for breaking my heart?  No, I have long overcome that and honestly understand I am better without that.  Am I bitter towards my parents for getting a divorce?  No, I had no control over that and we are so happy in the life that has been afforded us.  How about friends?  Bitter towards any of them?  What about teachers for bad grades?  or the thief that busted my window and stole my pearls last year out of my car (maybe just a little haha).

Whatever it is in your own life - take care of it.  I know I did.  I remember the phone call to my best friend after allowing my heart to let go of so much bitter that had entrapped my soul for years.  I was so excited.  I honestly thought my 2 feet were not staying on the ground :)  It was crazy!  I suddenly had an incredible sensation and wanted to shout Praise God from the mountains.  He had restored my soul and mended years of retribution and strife in an instance.  A lot of people that I have talked to don't understand and can't comprehend the meaning or the purpose behind it.  But I can testify that bitterness in one relationship overflows to all, yes ALL, of your others.  It was affecting my behavior, the things i talked about, and even the way that I thought.  My mind was completely consumed with the bitterness and the frustration that I had allowed to consume my mind.  God restored that.  He moved mountains and but the bliss back in my life completely.

If you read this - don't try and figure out my situation and circumstance.  Please focus on the restoration that has taken place and find that in your own life.  Dig deep.  Open your heart.  Pray.  And watch God as he transforms your life!

Because he will.

And it will be awesome!

Completely in Bliss,
Abby

It's a New Year

It's a New Year!  Can you believe it.  I mean wow!  2011 just came and went so fast!  I feel like it was yesterday that I was celebrating with my friends in Alabama (we went down there to do the Polar Bear Plunge! It was so much fun!)

I know everybody makes new years resolutions but I wanted to share mine with you.  I know there are the cliche work out out everyday and don't eat chocolate or the most common one lose weight!  But this year I decided to do some very inspirational and encouraging self-improvement resolutions.

Don't worry:  work out is on there!  But that isn't really a resolution because I work out anyways.  But my second one was to read a book a month (so I am taking suggestions).  Last year I tried to do this and I failed miserably after reading the very long but very lovely Redeeming Love in FEBRUARY! haha.  I am going to pick up Best of Me by Nicolas Sparks tomorrow to start reading to get ready for Single's Awareness Day coming up next month!

There are three resolutions that I am going to try to keep - I mean it is hard to break them. But in one year I am going to reflect on these and really see if I accomplished the resolutions that I have started a week ago!

1. Speak with purpose  - don't waste words, but when I do speak speak with purpose and passion.
2. Make and Pursue Intentional Relationships - Not with boys!  haha but with my friends.  Keep the ones that I have had for years - write letters and catch up every once and a while.  Don't let a week or 2 go by without shouting out and sending a prayer!  My grandmother calls it "A cry on the fly."  You cross paths with people for a reason - make that reason count!  Don't waste time.
3. Love on a compassion child.  This is something that I will blog about later - but pray for my little boy or girl.  I am not quite sure who I have yet - but if you work and you get a pay check and are buying starbucks at least once a week in your life - you have the money to help a child in need.  Why aren't you?

These are my resolutions - and yes they are very ambitious and yes some of them are straight forward and I should already have been doing them, I am not wasting anymore time.  I am starting new this year - and trust me I have big dreams for this year and I plan on making 2012 a year to remember!

Even though you are reading my blog and I might not know you, or maybe we have been friends and are friends and you are stopping by to catch up, whoever you are and wherever you are - I want to simply ask that you pray for my Grandmother, my dad's mom.  She has had 2 strokes in the past week.  Her health has been on the decline for the past year or so and a month ago and Christmas she seemed healthy! Her usual self with spunk and what I would call a firecracker.  However, things happen and things can change in an instant!  Again - DON'T WASTE TIME.  Spend the little moments in life and cherish the time you have with people.  I saw this Pin the other day and thought of GrandMolly.  This phrase is the phrase I have heard out of her mouth more than any other.  She is an amazing strong Godly woman and I hope my kids get to meet her one day.  But more importantly I want you to pray that she is comfortable and doesn't experience any pain.  Thanks!

My roomie Taylor and I went to one of the basketball games last week and it was so much fun!  I wore a neon jacket hoping "someone" might catch notice.  I don't think they did.  So we just had fun even though we missed the first half and weren't really even watching the game - still sometimes it's fun to catch up and hangout at a fun basketball game instead of in your ole house.  Catch my drift?

I had to return to work this week to work in the book room and I received such a fun text message from my dear friends and adopted sisters from Houston the Holts.  Laura and her 2 girls were driving through and wanted to take me to lunch!! I was showing Hannah how to Instagram and thought this picture was so cute of the both of us.  I am so blessed by this family!  If I have learned anything from Mrs. Laura I have learned that an older woman (even if she is only a couple years older like Mrs. Laura) is much wiser and has lived more life than you have.  She or He has experience things you haven't.  So sit under them and listen to them.  Find someone you can talk to and go to if you ever need advice.  Parents are awesome and siblings are very fun - but there is something about a confidant that sees through the situation and can give you an unbiased wise been-ther-done-that opinion!

I mentioned I was working in the book room... And one of the basketball guys came in and brought his books back in his shoe box!  Would you like to guess how big those shoes were... SIZE 15!! I mean if my feet were that big I could carry my books in them too!  I just had to "document" and take a picture of the box with books and then of course had to get a picture with him!  This is my life and I love my job!!!
I spent New Years with my sisters and my mom!! It was so chill I loved it.  Nothing worth blogging happened... but it was fun!  and very relaxing just the way I would like to spend my new years eve.  Oh and we watched the new years eve NYC celebration... can I just say that the Lady Gaga Spectacular was boring.  I was not impressed by the wire lightbulb she wore.  It was dumb.

Hope you have enjoyed this rather boring blog.  Be charmed and have bliss throughout this New Year!
